Question:
I get coldsores occasionally, and Ive been wondering about the possibility
of it causing genital herpes. I understand they are both the herpes simplex
virus, but Im not sure about the differences between HSV 1 & 2.
Can you give yourself genital herpes by touching coldsores and then failing
to wash your hands properly?
Answer:
Cold Sores do not travel by themselves. They need help to get to the genitals.
Oral sex can help with this process. Cold Sores and Fever Blisters are
herpes. HSV1 can go both orally and genitally.
