Question:
don't know what they are called in North America but in England we
called them cankers - small sores on the inside of your mouth.
Does anyone know what the cause of these nuisances are? I've been
told; poor oral hygiene, stress, protein deficiency, and eating too
much acidic food.
Is there an easy treatment?
Answer:
One cause of canker sores is irritation of mouth tissue, like from braces,
even a lot of very spicy food. Of course, if a person is in good health
and relatively stress free, she/he probably wouldn't be as likely to get a
canker sore, or it might heal more quickly. That's my understanding of
it. I have never heard that it was due to any virus or anything like
that. I use Ambesol on them. It really works It helps to keep
your mouth clean, too, so they can heal quicker. Maybe that doesn't have
anything to do with it, but it makes sense. Salt water seems to help,
too, rinsing your mouth with it, I mean.
