Question:
I have experienced canker sores in my mouth ever since I was a child.
They always appear inside my mouth, never outside nor even on my lips.
(most often on either my gums or inside my mouth).
I recently read an article where the term "canker sore" was called a
form of herpes.
Can I transmit this to my girlfriend during oral sex? (I'm in my 40's
and have never transmitted it before).
Answer:
I'll offer you my personal experience......Canker sores are usually caused by an irritation or
allergy to something eaten. I get them when I eat tomato, cantalope,
avocado, honey dew melon. Mine appear as small bumps under or on the
tongue area and may be itchy or sensitive around the area of the bump.
They disappear within a short period of time.
I do have oral HSV and the canker sores are different from an oral
lesion.
suggestion for HSV testing is very wise.
