Question:
Do any dentists recomment Rembrandt toothpaste for canker sore suffers to
their patients? Has it been proven effective? I have tried it myself. I
don't think that it has slowed down the number of sores I get. That was
dissappointing. However, when I do get a sore, it is not so painful to
brush my teeth. Using regular toothpaste on a canker sore is *very*
painful. The Rembrandt toothpaste is not painful at all.
The Rembrandt toothpaste is quite expensive so I would love to read some
comments from dentists on what they think.
Answer:
The research that I have read (and the testimony from a couple of
patients) relates to getting a toothpaste without
"sodium-lauryl-sulfate". Only the "Natural" formulation of Rembrandt
meets this requirement by my understanding. There are other toothpastes
(including plain baking soda) that fill the bill. Check the label of
ingredients and expect to reduce to number of episodes by 1/2- 2/3.
