Question:
I seem to get canker sores whenever I'm under stress, or have PMS. Right
now i have one on the underside of my tounge
i was wondering if anyone here had used an herbal remedy - not for the
pain I can deal with that, but more preventative care?
Answer:
Chamomile tea helps me. Basically, my theory is that canker sores for me have been caused by:
Too much acidic intake (ie. fruit juices such as orange juice or Vit C)
Stress in life
Lack of oral hygiene
Also, older people seem to build up an immunity to these infections, and
as I get older I seem to get fewer of them farther between
Others seem to simply be less disposed to get them at all.
Other treatments I've used: prune juice (I had this recommended because it
supposedly will help the body become less acidic). Also what helps is to
get a dental paste and cover the sore.I've gotten a prescription from my
dentist for stuff like this that helps.Another thing I've found helps tremendously is killing the pain so my muscles around it
will relax. I use the highest concentration of benzocaine-containing stuff
I can get over the counter. If anyone knows an equivalent way to address
the pain with herbs, I'd like to hear about it.
