Question:
My three-year-old has a rash in his mouth, and his doctor says it's
canker sores -- but she's puzzled, because she's never seen that many.
It isn't hand and mouth disease, she says, because it's just in one spot.
Have any of you dealt with this before? And any advice on getting a kid
whose mouth hurts to eat? He's even turning down popsicles and rice
pudding, so we're getting desperate
Answer:
If he hasn't been to a dentist yet, it's not too soon to start. Does he
brush his teeth and rinse after meals?
Not eating isn't likely to harm him. Just keep offering soft foods and cold
icy drinks.
Mouth sores tend to heal very quickly. Baking soda works wonders on mouth
ulcers, but might not work for a three-year-old.
